Fun in the Sunset Empire Parks and Rec

The Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation Department has a full summer of fun packed up and ready, starting Monday, June 16th through the end of August. Week long day camps, each week with its own theme and all camps are age specific and appropriate, have been planned for the whole summer. Children learn how to prepare for pre-school, kindergarten and first grade in the KinderCamp. In Wonderland Camp children participate in ceramics, painting and various group games. Bring sack lunches, swimsuits and towels! Then in Summer Camp, for the older kids, there’s arts ‘n crafts, games, education, hiking, swimming, and more. Don’t want to go all the time? There is are two special outdoor adventure series, “The Hunt for Sasquatch” for children 10-100 and Outdoor Survival Skills for the same age group. Check out SEPRD’s Program Guide for these activities. Fee schedule is family friendly with scholarships available, too!

There is also Youth Day Hikes, Canoing, Backpacking, Bird Watching, Ceramic Studio and Art for Special Needs being offered, a long with all of the activities of at the POOL, including aqua wall climbing, rock and swim and cardboard boat races. There is also specialized swim classes, like Aquatic Edge Freestyle, Water Safety Instruction, Junior Lifeguard and Surf Class.

Clubs to join include simple ceramics, Tai Chi, Turnaround Trekkers, Sou’wester Garden Club, Bridge Pal and Bridge Buddies, Nochler’s Pinochle, and an open Art Studio for your own projects. Along with open swim session, ball games, the skate park and the recreation park. A lot of fun activities for all ages in Seaside.
