Astoria Police Respond to Shots Fired

Astoria, Or., On 071208 at 1025 Astoria Regional Dispatch center received several reports of shots fired in the area of 17th and Irving. One caller specified the address of 1695 Irving and named a suspect, Jimy Owens White (Age 60, 1695 Irving Ave., Astoria OR 97103) saying they had seen him fire a rifle into the air. Officers surrounded the residence and called the house having White and another occupant, Eric A Beal (Age 62, 285 Alpine St., Seaside OR), exit the house. Both were arrested initially on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Reckless Endangering. After interviewing witnesses it was discovered that the person who actually shot the firearm was Beal. White was present at the time.

Officers served a search warrant on the residence and seized several firearms including an automatic submachine gun. They also seized a total of 21 shell casings. The case will be referred to the Clatsop County DA’s office for additional charges.
